Gangbuk-gu Expands Road Water Cleaning to Lower Urban Temperature Amid 'Heatwave'

View original imageGangbuk-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Soon-hee) will expand the operation of water cleaning vehicles on major local roads until next month to mitigate the urban heat island effect caused by frequent heatwaves due to abnormal weather.
The district is deploying four public watering trucks to conduct watering operations three times a day from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. During heatwave warnings, the operating hours are extended by one hour from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the number of operations is increased to four times a day.

Starting in August, two additional private watering vehicles will be deployed to operate from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., after the public watering trucks finish their work, excluding rainy days, and will also operate on weekends.
