Incheon Songdo Central Park Selected as One of the '50 Most Beautiful Urban Forests'... Harmony of Nature and Cityscape
Incheon Songdo International City Central Park has been named one of the '50 Beautiful Urban Forests' organized by the Korea Forest Service.
The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority announced on the 7th that Songdo Central Park was selected in the landscape improvement category under the theme of 'urban forests harmonizing natural and urban landscapes.'
Completed in 2009, Songdo Central Park is the representative park of Songdo International City, featuring a 1.8 km-long artificial lake created by drawing seawater from the West Sea. Surrounded by the skyscrapers of the international city, it is recognized as an excellent example of harmony between nature and the urban environment.

Covering an area of 370,750 m² (approximately 110,000 pyeong), the park includes forests, walking trails, a deer garden, traditional pavilions, artworks, and water taxis on the seawater canal. It attracts numerous tourists every year and hosts various events throughout the year.
In particular, at the end of last year, night lighting was installed on five pedestrian bridges in Central Park, transforming it into a beautiful park even at night. The skyline of skyscrapers and colorful lights reflected on the waterways create a fantastic night view that shines beautifully after dark.
The Korea Forest Service organized this contest to promote urban forests close to the public and to foster local landscape resources. An event is also underway where visitors can find banners installed in Central Park and upload certification photos or photos of the urban forest landscape and usage to the Korea Forest Service’s SNS by the 8th of next month. Participants will be entered into a draw to receive gifticons.
Yoon Won-seok, head of the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, said, "We are pleased that Central Park has been named a beautiful urban forest harmonizing nature and the city." He added, "We hope more citizens will come and see the urban landscape of the Incheon Free Economic Zone, where the sea, sky, and buildings blend harmoniously."
