Recruitment of Participants for Pyeongtaek Dementia Safety Center's 'Memory Blossoming Farm'
Healing Agriculture Program for Dementia Patients
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 6th that the Pyeongtaek Public Health Center Dementia Safety Center is recruiting participants for the healing agriculture program for dementia patients called 'The Farm Where Memories Blossom.'
This program, held for the fourth time this year, will take place biweekly over 10 weeks from the 26th of this month to October 28.
The program aims to help elderly dementia patients gain psychological healing and stability and recover physical health through healing farm experience activities within the district. Operated in collaboration with the Agricultural Technology Center, this program is conducted in connection with local healing farms such as Lorentz Emotional Countryside Experience Farm and Damul Farm. The program consists of activities including ▲making pickled vegetables using crops specialized by each farm ▲crafting using natural materials ▲seasonal vegetable garden experiences ▲and animal interaction.
According to the center, a total of 168 people participated in the first to third sessions of the program, with 82.9% of participants experiencing a reduction in depression, and 96.6% responding 'very satisfied' in satisfaction evaluations, indicating high effectiveness.

A representative from the Pyeongtaek Dementia Safety Center said, "Through the healing agriculture program, dementia patients can escape their daily lives, interact with nature, and achieve cognitive function improvement and psychological stability," adding, "We will continue to strive to operate various programs for dementia patients in the future."
