Handonghun Establishes Loyalist System... Erasing Anti-Korean Sentiment Through Dining Politics
Kim Jong-hyuk, close aide, appointed as regional supreme council member
Shin Ji-ho, camp general manager, named strategy vice chairman
Solidarity strengthened through relay luncheon with senior party members
Continuous talent recruitment for 'Centrist and Seoul metropolitan area expansion'
On the 5th, Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, completed the establishment of a pro-Han leadership team by announcing follow-up appointments including nominated supreme council members, the vice chair of strategic planning, and the vice chair of organization. Leader Han also began efforts to erase anti-Han (anti-Han Dong-hoon) sentiment that arose during the July 23 party convention and the replacement of the policy committee chair by holding relay luncheons with senior party lawmakers.
On the same day, at the supreme council meeting held at the central party office in Yeouido, Seoul, Leader Han appointed Kim Jong-hyuk as nominated supreme council member and vice chair of organization, Shin Ji-ho, former lawmaker, as vice chair of strategic planning, and Jung Sung-guk, lawmaker, as vice chair of organization. Additionally, Kwak Gyu-taek, the chief spokesperson appointed by the emergency committee led by Hwang Woo-yeo, was retained, and lawmaker Han Ji-a was added as a chief spokesperson.
Since all the appointments announced that day were filled with pro-Han figures, it is evaluated that Han Dong-hoon’s pro-Han regime has been completed. Kim, the supreme council member who also serves as chairman of the Out-of-Parliament Party Branch Chairmen Council, a representative body of the People Power Party’s out-of-parliament members, is considered a typical pro-Han out-of-parliament figure who was appointed as vice chair of organization when Han was the emergency committee chairman. Following the announcement of the nominated supreme council member appointments, if Kim Sang-hoon, the policy committee chair nominee who is an ex officio member, is approved at the afternoon lawmakers’ meeting, five out of the nine members of the supreme council will be pro-Han or appointees of Leader Han. Former lawmaker Shin, appointed as vice chair of strategic planning to assist Secretary-General Seo Beom-su, was the general situation room chief of Han’s campaign during the last party convention. Jung Sung-guk, appointed as vice chair of organization, was also the first talent recruitment figure brought in during Han’s tenure as emergency committee chairman.

View original imageAnnouncing the establishment of his pro-Han regime, Leader Han immediately began holding relay luncheons with senior lawmakers who lead public opinion within the party, intending to strengthen unity. On the 5th, he had lunch with lawmakers Cho Kyung-tae and Kwon Seong-dong, and on the 6th, with lawmakers Joo Ho-young, Kwon Young-se, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Cho Bae-sook. He plans to continue scheduling luncheons to carry out Han Dong-hoon-style dining politics. In addition, he has also begun full-scale efforts to regularize talent recruitment, which had previously been regarded as a one-off event before elections. At the supreme council meeting that day, Leader Han stated, “In a situation where we must expand our outreach to centrists, the metropolitan area, and youth, we will make the talent recruitment committee permanent and strengthen it, dedicating the party’s fate to continuous talent discovery, recruitment, and education.”
