On the 1st, Pyeongtaek Port Authority announced that on the 31st of last month, it invited a delegation consisting of Gajegyeong, the Chief Representative of the Economic and Trade Office of the Shandong Provincial Government in Korea, and businesspeople to Pyeongtaek Port for an on-site introduction event.
The delegation consisted of a total of 13 members, including Chief Representative Gajegyeong and businesspeople, who toured the Pyeongtaek Port exhibition hall, guide ship, and port hinterland complex.
The Economic and Trade Office of the Shandong Provincial Government in Korea was established in 2005 to promote economic and trade cooperation between Korea and Shandong Province. Geographically close to Korea, Shandong Province signed a sisterhood agreement with Gyeonggi Province in 2009, and various public-private exchanges are currently taking place.
In particular, since 2019, Pyeongtaek Port Authority has been actively promoting exchange activities with the Shandong Port Group. In June of this year, they visited the Shandong Port Group to discuss strategic partnerships between the ports.
Kim Seok-gu, President of Pyeongtaek Port Authority, emphasized, "Currently, over 80% of Pyeongtaek Port's container cargo volume is with China. Among them, cargo volume with the Shandong region accounts for 51% as of 2023, making trade between Pyeongtaek Port and Shandong very important."
