If You Have Mental Illness or Personality Disorder, You Cannot Own 'Ilbondo'... Police Agency Launches Late Comprehensive Inspection
Strengthening New Firearm Permit Procedures
Revision of the Firearms and Ammunition Act Also Underway
The National Police Agency announced on the 1st that it will conduct a comprehensive inspection of knives and swords and promote system improvements by the 31st of this month.
In this comprehensive investigation, they plan to thoroughly verify the appropriateness by comprehensively reviewing ▲whether any criminal record has occurred after the permit ▲history of domestic violence ▲opinions from the local police station in charge.
When granting a new permit for possession of knives and swords, eligibility will be examined, and the police officer in charge at the police station will interview the applicant directly. If it is judged during this process that there is inappropriateness or risk in possessing the knife or sword, a review committee chaired by the head of the Crime Prevention Response Division at the police station may be convened to deny the possession permit.
The National Police Agency will promote amendments to the Firearms and Gunpowder Act. When issuing a new permit for knives and swords, applicants will be required to submit documents that can confirm whether they have mental illness or personality disorders, and regulations for permit renewal will also be established.
