Samsung Electro-Mechanics Included in ESG Index 'FTSE4Good' for 14 Consecutive Years
Longest Inclusion Record in Domestic Electronic Components Industry
ESG Score 4.2... 1.7 Points Higher Than Industry Average of 2.5
Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced on the 1st that it has been included in the 'FTSE4Good' index, one of the global ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) evaluation indices, for 14 consecutive years. This 14-year consecutive inclusion is the longest record in the domestic electronic components industry.
The index was created in 2001 as a joint venture between the UK's Financial Times and the London Stock Exchange, specializing in ESG evaluation. Inclusion in the FTSE4Good index signifies recognition as a global ESG management excellence company.
The FTSE4Good evaluation annually assesses companies worldwide on 14 categories and over 300 items related to environment protection, human rights, labor law compliance, and governance. If a company fails to meet the required score in even one category, inclusion is not possible.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics received excellent evaluations in all areas including environment, social, and governance, achieving a score of 4.2, which is higher than the average score of 2.5 for the electronic components and equipment industry. In particular, Samsung Electro-Mechanics received a perfect score of 5 in supply chain management, employee health and safety, and corporate governance.
President Jang Deok-hyun has consistently emphasized to employees, "For the promise to future generations, we must become a good company that grows together and cares for the environment," and urged, "Let us become an honest company trusted in the global market and a company that grows sustainably by establishing eco-friendly policies, fulfilling social responsibilities, and building a transparent organizational culture."
