The ‘Jaeneungmoa Volunteer Group’ is a volunteer organization where residents of rental housing practice mutual aid sharing based on the knowledge and talents they first learned through the LH Small Library. Launched last month, the group visits local social welfare institutions with various cultural contents.
LH acts as a bridge by organizing volunteer personnel and matching social welfare institutions so that LH residents can participate in mutual aid talent volunteering in society.
The ‘LH Jaeneungmoa Volunteer Group’ invited students of Seonye School, who are on summer vacation, to the ‘LH Kkummaru Small Library’ to conduct a cooking program where they make madeleines, sangtu cookies, cupcakes, and more together over four sessions.
This event, jointly held with Baekseon Paolo’s House, was prepared to provide experiential opportunities to disabled youth living in social welfare facilities who usually do not enjoy cultural activities.
Jeon Hyang-sook, director of Baekseon Paolo’s House, said, “We are grateful that students can participate in various experiential activities at the LH Small Library.”
Jung Su-mi, head of LH Gwangju-Jeonnam Regional Headquarters, said, “We will continue to make efforts to spread the culture of talent sharing by supporting new and diverse programs for socially marginalized groups in the community.”
