Currently, about 500 group homes are operating nationwide, many of which have aged, but face difficulties in facility renovation due to cost issues.
Accordingly, LX Hausys decided to launch the “Group Home Residential Environment Improvement Support Activity” from this year in collaboration with the Korea Habitat Corporation and the Korea Child and Youth Group Home Association (Seoul Metropolitan Child Shared Living Family Support Center), selecting the group home ‘Namuya’ as the first support target considering the urgency of renovation work.
The group home ‘Namuya’ is a detached house with an area of 189㎡ (57 pyeong), currently housing four children and adolescents. In particular, the second-floor space where the children mainly live had severe leakage, making renovation work urgent.
Since early July, LX Hausys has carried out extensive renovation work over about three weeks by providing windows, flooring materials, wallpaper, doors, and interior films, transforming ‘Namuya’ into a warmer and more comfortable space.
At the completion ceremony, Han Myung-ho, President of LX Hausys, said, “I hope that ‘Namuya’ will become a warmer home for the children living there through this improvement work,” adding, “We will continue to support young people, the future leaders, so that they can grow up in a more comfortable and safe space and nurture their dreams.”
Kim Sang-hee, Facility Director of the group home ‘Namuya,’ said, “We are happy and grateful that the space where the children live has been transformed into a cozy and comfortable environment thanks to LX Hausys’ support.”
