Fair Trade Commission Conducts Survey on Agency Transactions... Travel Industry Also Included
December Results Announcement
The Fair Trade Commission announced on the 29th that it will conduct a written survey on agency transactions, including the travel industry.
This survey aims to understand the current status of transactions, experiences of unfair trade practices, perceived improvements in transaction customs, and the usage status of standard agency contracts, targeting suppliers and agencies.
This year, the survey will be conducted across 20 industries such as food and beverage, telecommunications, and home appliances. The travel industry, which had not been surveyed previously due to difficulties caused by COVID-19, is now included. The Fair Trade Commission plans to refer to the travel industry survey results when drafting the standard agency contract.
Additionally, the survey will analyze exclusive and non-exclusive agencies separately, and investigate the necessity of introducing the right for agency business operators to form associations, as well as satisfaction with new systems such as allowing dispute mediation applications after administrative sanctions.
For agencies that report experiences of unfair trade practices, on-site visits will also be conducted. The survey results are scheduled to be announced in December.
