View original imageCoached by Henrik Signell (Sweden), Korea lost 23-30 to Slovenia in the second match of Group A in the women's handball group stage at the 2024 Paris Olympics, held on the 28th (local time) at South Paris Arena 6 in Paris, France. Although they caused an upset by narrowly defeating Germany by one point in the first match on the 26th, they struggled against Slovenia's height and strength. Both teams currently hold a record of 1 win and 1 loss.
This Olympics features 12 countries divided into Groups A and B for the group stage. The top four teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals. Korea will face Norway, Sweden, and Denmark in succession. Norway, Sweden, and Denmark are strong teams that placed 2nd to 4th at last December's World Championship. In Group A, Korea, Germany, and Slovenia are considered lower-tier teams, and even if they compete closely, Korea is at a disadvantage in goal difference.
