Pohang Agricultural Technology Center Successfully Completes Homemade Beer Brewing Class Using Korean Rice
Promoting Consumption of Korean Rice, Education on Various Uses
Pohang Agricultural Technology Center (Director: Jung Kyungwon) successfully concluded the “Homemade Beer Making Using Korean Rice” course, which was held a total of six times at the center’s agricultural product processing education hall for about 50 citizens.
The Agricultural Technology Center is conducting a handmade beer brewing class using domestic rice at the Agricultural Products Processing Education Center.
View original imageThe Agricultural Technology Center invited the representative of “Pohang Craft Beer” to provide both theoretical and practical training on beer, including saccharification, lautering, and bottling. Rice produced in Heunghaeeup was used during the course to promote rice consumption and encourage interest in local agricultural products.
One participant in the program said, “I used to think rice was only used for tteok or traditional liquor, but learning how to make beer with our rice has expanded its range of uses. I hope more Pohang rice will be used by making beer, which is popular among young people, with our local rice.”
An official from the Pohang Agricultural Technology Center stated, “We expect that this course will help make processed products using our rice more approachable and contribute to promoting rice consumption. We will continue to educate on various ways to use our rice to expand the consumption of local agricultural products and support the development of usage methods that suit consumer preferences.”
