Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will visit China for the first time since taking office on the 27th.
According to foreign media and Yonhap News Agency, Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated at a regular briefing on the 25th, "At the invitation of Premier Li Qiang, Italian Prime Minister Meloni will make an official visit to China from the 27th to the 31st."
During her visit, Prime Minister Meloni is scheduled to meet with President Xi Jinping and hold separate talks with Premier Li Qiang and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress.
It is reported that Meloni will discuss trade and other matters between the two countries during her visit to China.

Previously, Italy was the only G7 country to participate in the Belt and Road Initiative in 2019. However, Meloni, who took office in October 2022, stated that the Belt and Road Initiative did not deliver the expected results and officially withdrew from it in December of last year.
