Gim Su-yeong, Gwangju Seo-gu Council Member, Proposes Policy Related to Sunset Clause
Kim Su-young, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan City Seo-gu Council, delivered a 5-minute free speech on three topics at the 2nd plenary session of the 324th extraordinary meeting on the 23rd: ▲ the sunset clause on long-term unexecuted urban planning facilities ▲ the Cheonwon Guksi project ▲ maintenance of Hwajeong Neighborhood Park.
On that day, Councilor Kim stated, “Due to the change notification of the decision on long-term unexecuted urban planning facilities, residents have been hoping for the road to be opened for over 30 years, unable to dispose of their property and just waiting, but it has simply been neglected,” and raised the question, “I am curious about what efforts Seo-gu Office has made for road development.”
He continued, “While understanding that the Cheonwon Guksi project is a valuable initiative that provides local residents with an important meal, it is pointed out that the Cheonwon Guksi threatens the livelihoods of small business owners operating nearby, and urgent measures are needed.” He emphasized that when expanding Cheonwon Guksi stores in the future, plans and measures that can coexist with surrounding small business owners are desperately required.
Furthermore, regarding Hwajeong Neighborhood Park, which was recently completed in June and is being used by residents, he mentioned issues such as poor drainage causing foul odors and even leeches when walking barefoot, the risk of injury from stepping on stones, limited space at the foot-washing station, and withering plants, indicating a lack of maintenance and repair. He requested prompt repair work from Gwangju City.
