The Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kwon Oh-seong) Guidance Substation is implementing a 'Free Life Jacket Rental Service' to establish a safe water play culture with the opening of summer beaches.
According to the Korea Coast Guard on the 24th, there were 651 coastal accidents last year, resulting in 120 deaths or missing persons.

Among 1,008 coastal accident victims, only 139 people, or 14%, were wearing life jackets. Since the vehicle seatbelt usage rate reaches 83%, raising awareness and habitual use of life jackets is urgently needed.
Accordingly, the Mokpo Maritime Police Guidance Substation is actively practicing proactive administration by providing free life jacket rental services to leisure and vacation visitors to coastal waters in line with the opening of local beaches (Daegwang, Holtong, Ujeon, Dolmori).
Those wishing to use a life jacket can simply fill out a rental log at the beach and return the jacket after use. When applying for the service, they can also learn the correct way to wear a life jacket and water safety rules.
