Chicken franchise Genesis BBQ Group has appointed former Ministop CEO Shim Gwan-seop as its new CEO.
According to industry sources on the 23rd, Genesis BBQ held a board meeting earlier this month and appointed Shim as the new CEO.
As a result, Yoon Kyung-joo, vice chairman and younger brother of Chairman Yoon Hong-geun who took office as CEO in 2022, stepped down from his position.
CEO Shim graduated from Sungkyunkwan University with a degree in English Language and Literature. He joined Miwon (now Daesang)'s Miwon Trading in 1992, and later served as head of sales planning, head of product division, and CEO at Ministop starting in 2004.
In particular, having served as CEO of Ministop for 10 years, he is expected to demonstrate expertise in franchise business and related areas.

A BBQ official stated, "CEO Shim is a franchise industry expert with over 30 years of experience," adding, "He possesses know-how in sales, product, and strategy within the franchise industry, and we believe he is well-suited to enhance the value and competitiveness of the BBQ brand."
