Former President Bill Clinton and his wife announced on the 21st (local time) that they support Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic Party's new presidential candidate.
Former President Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on the social networking service X (formerly Twitter), "We are honored to join the president's decision to support Vice President Harris," adding, "We will do everything we can to support her."
The Clintons emphasized, "Now is the time to support Kamala Harris and fight with everything we have to get her elected," stressing, "The future of America depends on it."
President Joe Biden, who had been under pressure to resign after a defeat in the presidential debate, officially announced his withdrawal from the race on the day, about three months before the election. He expressed his support for Vice President Harris as the Democratic Party's new presidential candidate.
