Kim Jin-kyung, Four-term Member of the Democratic Party, Elected as Chairperson of Gyeonggi Provincial Council
On the 19th, Kim Jin-gyeong (Siheung 3) of the Democratic Party of Korea was elected as the chairperson for the second half of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council.
Chairperson Kim won 134 votes in the secret ballot held during the plenary session of the extraordinary meeting, defeating Kim Mi-ri (Namyangju 2) of the Reform New Party, who received 12 votes.
In her acceptance speech, Chairperson Kim stated, "I solemnly promise to devote all my experience and wisdom to fulfill my duties so that the second half of the 11th Gyeonggi Provincial Council will be a source of strength for the people's livelihood and a foundation for development that enhances the values of local autonomy and decentralization."
She presented the direction for the second half as ▲ a working council for the people's livelihood ▲ a council of communication and cooperation ▲ an advanced council leading the future of local autonomy, and pledged, "By demonstrating the capabilities of the Gyeonggi Provincial Council comparable to the National Assembly, I will ensure that the Gyeonggi Provincial Council becomes a compass that points to the future of local councils and local autonomy."
The council also elected two vice-chairpersons: Jeong Yoon-gyeong (Gunpo 1) of the Democratic Party, serving her third term, and Kim Gyu-chang (Yeoju 2) of the People Power Party.
Regarding the chairpersons of the 13 standing committees, six were elected from the Democratic Party and seven from the People Power Party.

Meanwhile, the number of council members by party is 77 from the Democratic Party, 76 from the People Power Party, and 2 from the Reform New Party.
