Park Chan-dae, Acting Leader and Floor Leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, expressed his support for the constitutional amendment proposed by National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik. He also suggested the formation of special committees to address not only the constitutional amendment but also the climate crisis and population crisis.

On the 19th, through the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, Acting Leader Park stated, "I welcome Speaker Woo's proposal to form a Special Committee on Constitutional Amendment (Constitutional Amendment Special Committee)." He added, "Just as one changes clothes when the body changes, we must hasten the constitutional amendment process to reflect the changed social landscape and the spirit of the new era." Furthermore, he explained, "The political circles, regardless of party lines, also agree on the necessity of constitutional amendment. The Democratic Party will actively engage in the constitutional amendment discussions with an open mind and attitude."
Speaker Woo, during the 76th Constitution Day celebration speech held at the National Assembly on the 17th, said, "I propose to all political parties. Let us aim to hold a constitutional referendum together during the 2026 local elections and proceed with the constitutional amendment." He continued, "We will first form the Constitutional Amendment Special Committee and soon establish a Constitutional Advisory Committee directly under the Speaker to prepare for the Special Committee to begin full-scale discussions."
Acting Leader Park also proposed the formation of special committees related to social issues beyond the constitutional amendment. He said, "Along with the Constitutional Amendment Special Committee, let us additionally form the Climate Crisis Special Committee, Population Crisis Special Committee, and AI Special Committee." He emphasized, "Responding to the climate crisis and overcoming the population crisis are core tasks for our society. The National Assembly, as the hall of public opinion, must actively take the lead in gathering broad social consensus and capabilities."

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party pressured the government and ruling party to approach the impeachment petition hearing for President Yoon Seok-youl with an attitude of sincere repentance. Acting Leader Park stated, "The impeachment petition hearing for President Yoon is a place where the will and aspirations of more than 1.4 million citizens have gathered." He added, "The President and the People Power Party should stop making endless excuses and attend the hearing with an attitude of sincere repentance." He further emphasized, "If the hearing does not proceed normally or witnesses do not cooperate with attendance, we will respond strongly according to relevant laws."
