The ‘Smart Tank’ provided to Wando Jeonbok Co., Ltd. is the latest equipment that can monitor in real-time the water temperature, dissolved oxygen level, and water level of the tank where abalone are stored. Based on this equipment, abalone fishermen plan to maintain freshness at the highest level to strengthen the product competitiveness of abalone and establish a sustainable abalone lead management system by utilizing accumulated data.
In addition to this delivery ceremony, Lotte Mart plans to expand the operation of ‘ASC Certified Abalone’ to create a sustainable abalone farming environment. Since August 2021, Lotte Mart has introduced and operated abalone certified by the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), which is an international standard certification that promotes sustainable aquaculture environments to provide consumers with safe seafood. Currently, Lotte Mart sells ASC certified abalone at 23 stores and plans to expand to 28 stores within this year.
Lotte Mart and Super are conducting the Bada愛(Jinshim) campaign brand to preserve the marine ecosystem and create a sustainable fishing environment. As the first project, on May 17, they signed a business agreement with Gunsan City, Korea Water Resources Corporation West Sea Headquarters, and the Environmental Foundation, and were appointed as ‘Jangjado Sea Guardians’ by Gunsan City to carry out environmental cleanup activities.
