The Gyeongsangnam-do Mayors and County Governors Council held its 93rd regular meeting on the 17th at the birthplace of Chairman Lee Jonghwan in Uiryeong-gun, with 13 mayors and county governors from Gyeongnam in attendance.

View original imageThe regular meeting included the formation of the 22nd executive board, a report on the operations of the Korea Mayors, County Governors and District Heads Council and the Gyeongnam Mayors and County Governors Council, deliberation on proposals, promotion of events and festivals, and announcements. After the meeting, participants toured the birthplaces of Chairman Lee Jonghwan and Chairman Lee Byungchul.
The council elected Jo Kyuil, Mayor of Jinju, as president and Kim Yuncheol, Governor of Hapcheon, as vice president for the 22nd executive board, who will lead the latter half of the 8th popularly elected term. Based on the discussions at the meeting, the council plans to submit seven proposals, including the 'Amendment for the Rational Operation of the Waterworks Act's Causative Cost Burden System,' to Gyeongsangnam-do and central government agencies.
Gu Inmo, Governor of Geochang, who presided over the meeting as acting president and vice president of the council in the first half of the 8th term, stated, "I am pleased to hold the Gyeongnam Mayors and County Governors Council in Uiryeong, a region renowned for its spirit of loyalty and filial piety." He emphasized, "Let us continue to cooperate and communicate among cities and counties, supporting each other through challenges and fostering sustainable development for the well-being of our residents."
Meanwhile, the Gyeongsangnam-do Mayors and County Governors Council, comprised of 18 mayors and county governors from Gyeongnam, holds regular quarterly meetings to promote mutual exchange and discuss common issues.
