Comprehensive Expo Covering Exhibitions, Awards Ceremonies, and Forums
Prepared Reflecting People-Centered Companionship and Attractive Values
"Challenge to Develop Together Like CES Within 3 Years"
A new form of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) exhibition showcasing people-centered advanced technology will be held in Seoul. It is an opportunity for cities from around the world to gather in Seoul, share technology trends and ideas, and experience smart cities where innovative technologies are implemented in daily life.
On the 15th, the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will hold 'Smart Life Week (SLW),' an international exhibition platform that promotes innovative technology companies worldwide and leads future technology trends, for three days from October 10 at COEX in Seoul.
'Smart Life Week' is a comprehensive ICT exhibition encompassing an Exhibition, Prize ceremony, and Forum·Conference. It integrates last year’s separate events?the 'Seoul Smart City Forum,' the 'Seoul Smart City Prize Ceremony,' and the 'Yakja Donghaeng Technology Expo'?and is linked with 'Digital Innovation Festa 2024,' a private IT exhibition held at the same time and place, featuring international forums in big data, spatial information, and AI fields. Earlier, during his visit to the U.S. for 'CES 2024' in January, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon announced, "We will successfully launch Smart Life Week and challenge ourselves to develop it into an event comparable to CES within three years."
As it is the first year of the event, Seoul plans to embed its administrative philosophy of 'people-centered companionship and attractive value' throughout the program to establish the event’s identity. Especially, with the large participation of overseas city government officials, the focus will be on making it a global exhibition that fosters exchange and cooperation with domestic innovative companies.
'Smart Life Week' is mainly composed of ▲Exhibition Hall Operation ▲Seoul Smart City Prize Ceremony ▲International Forum·Conference. The exhibition hall will be divided into a 'Showroom,' where visitors can experience the daily life of future cities transformed by advanced technology, and a 'Corporate Exhibition Hall' supporting domestic innovative companies in pioneering global markets. To create a high-quality experiential space, major Korean conglomerates representing Korea, such as Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, Hyundai Motor Company, and SK Group, are expected to cooperate.
Various international forums and conferences will also be held. In addition to the 'Mayors Forum' with participation from overseas city mayors, the event will share global smart city achievements through the 'Global CDO (Chief Digital Officer) Forum' for technology leaders and the 'Smart City Performance Sharing Conference.'
Additionally, the 2nd 'Seoul Smart City Prize' ceremony will be held together. Established in September 2022 by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in collaboration with the World Smart City Organization (WeGO), this award embodies the administrative philosophy of 'companionship with the vulnerable' and aims to spread a future smart city vision that addresses urban polarization issues and promotes inclusive growth worldwide.
