Jindo-gun Selected as an Excellent Institution in the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's 2024 Disaster Management Evaluation

Ministerial Agency Commendation and Incentive Support Including Special Grant Tax of 88 Million Won

Jindo County, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim Hee-su) was selected as an excellent institution in the 2024 Disaster Management Evaluation hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.

According to the county on the 12th, this disaster management evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of the disaster management capabilities of disaster management responsible institutions. It is conducted to improve the level of disaster management at each stage, including common, prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. The evaluation comprehensively diagnoses the key capabilities at each disaster management stage of 338 disaster management responsible institutions nationwide, including central government ministries, public institutions, and local governments.

With this excellent institution selection, Jindo County will receive the Minister of the Interior and Safety's institutional commendation and incentives such as a special grant of 88 million KRW.

In this evaluation, Jindo County received consistently high ratings in four areas: common, prevention, preparedness, and recovery. In particular, it achieved excellent results by conducting △ evaluation of the institution head's disaster situation response capability △ expansion of investment plans in the disaster safety field △ management of disaster management funds △ strengthening safety management for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and the disabled △ strengthening safety management in vulnerable areas △ maintaining a response system for disaster situation management.

Governor Kim Hee-su stated, “We will continue to strengthen disaster response capabilities through more thorough pre-disaster preparedness for various disasters and do our best to protect the safety of our residents.”
