View original imageHeavy rain fell overnight in the Daejeon area, causing entire villages to be flooded and forcing residents to evacuate, resulting in a series of damages.
According to Daejeon City on the 10th, a heavy rain warning was issued at 1:10 a.m., with 119mm of rain in Jeongnim-dong, 86.7mm in Guseongdo, and 71.5mm in Jangdong. In particular, Jeongnim-dong experienced a torrential downpour of 60.5mm in just one hour between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m.
Although there were no casualties, there were three cases of road embankment collapse, six vehicles flooded, one house flooded, and three cases of resident evacuation.
In Wonjeong-dong, Seo-gu, a house was flooded and an elderly woman was rescued, while in Yongchon-dong, Seo-gu, the entire village was inundated and rescue operations are currently underway using rescue boats.
Additionally, six vehicles parked in a parking lot in Gwanjeo-dong, Seo-gu, were flooded, and soil runoff occurred in Bonggok-dong, Seo-gu, Sangso-dong, Dong-gu, and Bangdo, Yuseong-gu, with on-site measures currently being taken.
Furthermore, nine bridges were initially closed, but currently only Anyounggyo and Yudeunggyo remain under control.
Daejeon City has activated Emergency Level 2 of the Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters, mobilizing 370 city and district employees for on-site response activities.
The heavy rain warning for the Daejeon area was lifted at 5 a.m. that day.
