National Library Committee Launches 'Library Policy Working Group'
Exploring Policies for Community Vitality and Service Expansion
The National Library Committee launched the 'Library Policy Working Group' on the 5th. It is a public-private-academic organization established to prepare policies for the 4th Comprehensive Library Development Plan (2024?2028). The group will explore policies on community vitality (regional culture revitalization and social inclusion), service expansion (knowledge resource sharing and digital transformation), and solidarity and cooperation (activation of domestic and international library networks).

Professors Park Oknam from the Department of Library and Information Science at Sangmyung University, Park Heejin from the Digital Humanities Information Track at Hansung University, Associate Research Fellow Lee Kyungjin from the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, and Professor Lee Seokhyeong from the Department of Library and Information Science at Chungnam National University also joined.

They will participate in presentations and discussions by subcommittees until September. The discussions will be supplemented through an open seminar held over four days starting on the 27th of next month. Yoon Heeyoon, Chairperson of the National Library Committee, said, "I hope mutual cooperation between the public, private, and academic sectors will be strengthened," adding, "We will create various forums for discussion, including activating the working group."
