Pyeongtaek City "Report Illegal Parking of Shared Kickboards and Bicycles via KakaoTalk"
Starting Next Month, 'Illegal Parking Report Room' to Operate
Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 27th that it will open and operate a 'Shared Kickboard and Electric Bicycle Illegal Parking Reporting Room' starting from the 1st of next month.
The city explained that in order to alleviate citizen inconvenience, it decided to simplify the complaint handling process related to illegally parked electric kickboards and shared electric bicycles through a KakaoTalk open chat room. There have been criticisms that when electric bicycles or electric kickboards indiscriminately left on sidewalks, etc., were reported through the National Police Agency's complaint system, it took 2 to 5 days to take action, resulting in low effectiveness.
To report inconveniences, users can enter the KakaoTalk open chat room by searching for 'Pyeongtaek City Electric Kickboard' or scanning the QR code, then upload the date and time of occurrence, location, details, and on-site photos. Reports are accepted on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The city will immediately forward the received cases to the respective electric kickboard companies for relocation or collection. However, reports related to violations of the Road Traffic Act such as not wearing helmets, two-person riding, or unlicensed driving are excluded from acceptance.
A city official expressed hope that "through reporting via the KakaoTalk chat room, the complaint handling time will be drastically reduced, alleviating citizen inconvenience and creating a safe walking environment."
