Busan Transportation Corporation Conducts Response Drill for Personal Mobility Device Fires
Joint Disaster Preparedness Training by Fire Department, Police, and Subsidiaries
Response Check for Personal Mobility Device Fire and Derailment Scenarios
Busan Transportation Corporation (President Lee Byungjin) conducted a comprehensive disaster response drill on the 20th at the Daejeo Train Depot, simulating a fire involving a personal mobility device.
This drill was part of the corporation's "2024 Year-Round Disaster Preparedness Training" and was attended by more than 80 officials from related organizations such as Gangseo Fire Station, Gangseo Police Station, and Busan Urban Railway Operation Service. The focus was on checking the cooperation system in complex disaster situations such as fires and derailments, and enhancing practical response capabilities.
The scenario assumed a fire involving a personal mobility device carried by a passenger on Line 3. After the train stopped at the adjacent Daejeo Station, the scenario included passenger evacuation, initial fire suppression, and notification to relevant agencies, followed by emergency dispatches from fire and police departments to extinguish the fire, rescue passengers, and restore facilities.

By planning for complex disaster situations that could actually occur, the corporation checked its disaster response capabilities to prepare for unexpected accidents.
The year-round disaster preparedness training is designed so that each institution can independently plan based on its specific disaster environment, identify areas for improvement, and make practical enhancements to the disaster response system. In 2023, the corporation identified the need for cooperation between police and staff to control accident sites and incorporated this into the current drill.
