If You Take Just One Day Off, You Can Have a 10-Day Break for Next Year's Chuseok
Space Agency Announces Next Year's Calendar Highlights
Total Number of Holidays Same as This Year
More Golden Weekends of 3 Days or Longer
Next year, South Korea will have a total of 119 holidays. This includes Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays, which is the same as this year. The longest "golden holiday" will be Chuseok, allowing for a full 7-day break.
On the 20th, the Korea Space Agency announced the "2025 Calendar Highlights," which contains information about next year's holidays. There will be a total of 68 public holidays marked in red on the calendar for government offices. For workers under the five-day workweek system, the total number of holidays will be 119 days. This is the sum of 68 public holidays and 52 Saturdays.

View original imageThe total number of holidays next year, 119 days, is the same as this year. However, the number of "golden holidays" with continuous breaks of three days or more will increase from five this year to six next year. This is thanks to holidays such as Children's Day and Buddha's Birthday from May 3 to 6, Memorial Day combined with the weekend from June 6 to 8, and Liberation Day from August 15 to 17.
Additionally, the Chuseok holiday period will be longer than usual. Next year's Chuseok holiday will span a remarkable 7 days, from Friday, October 3, National Foundation Day, through October 9, Hangul Day. Furthermore, since the day after the holiday, October 10, is a Friday, by taking a day off, one can enjoy a long vacation of up to 10 days. This is nearly double the length of this year's Chuseok holiday, which lasts only 5 days including Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Calendar Highlights is a resource that lists public holidays for government offices and serves as the standard for domestic calendar production. Originally, it was announced annually by the Ministry of Science and ICT, but since the launch of the Korea Space Agency last month and the revision of the Astronomy Act, it has been under the jurisdiction of the Space Agency.
