84.9% of Goheung County Residents Say the County Administration Is 'Doing Well'

Announcement of the Satisfaction Survey Results on the 2nd Anniversary of the 8th Minseon Military Administration

On the 18th, Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced that 84.9% of Goheung residents gave a positive evaluation in the satisfaction survey on the 2nd anniversary of the 8th local government.

To mark the 2nd anniversary of the 8th local government, Goheung-gun conducted a public opinion survey on administrative satisfaction targeting 1,014 residents aged 18 and over from the 23rd to the 31st of last month.

In response to the question of whether the 8th local government of Goheung-gun is managing the administration well, the positive evaluation of "doing well" rose by 0.6% from last year to 84.9%, indicating a high level of satisfaction with the administration.

Specifically, 83.4% of men and 86.9% of women gave positive evaluations. By age group, those aged 70 and over gave the highest rating at 92.8%, followed by those in their 60s (83.9%), 50s (81.1%), 30s and under (80.2%), and 40s (68.5%).

Regarding the areas where Goheung-gun has performed best since the 8th local government, "citizen communication" received the highest response at 23.7%, followed by "aerospace" (19.3%), "resident welfare" (12.5%), and "population increase" (11.6%).

The high positive evaluation of the administration appears to be due to steady progress in Goheung-gun’s three major future strategic industries: the establishment of a space launch vehicle industrial cluster, securing a leading position in the drone and UAM fields, and the expansion of the Goheung-type smart farm innovation valley. Additionally, efforts to improve accessibility and residential infrastructure through the construction of highways, railroads, and regional residential complexes, as well as the establishment of a comprehensive welfare system without blind spots, have been well received for enhancing residents’ quality of life.

In particular, actively reflecting residents’ opinions and encouraging participation to strengthen communication with citizens has also been an important factor.

Looking at the satisfaction levels of major policies evaluated by residents by sector, "aerospace policies" had the highest satisfaction at 86.6%, followed by "expansion of residential infrastructure" at 84.8%, "strengthening citizen communication" at 84.1%, "revitalization of the local economy" at 83.2%, "enhancement of competitiveness in agriculture, fisheries, and livestock" at 82.7%, "construction of tourism infrastructure and tourism revitalization" at 82.3%, "establishment of welfare systems" at 82.1%, and "promotion of culture, arts, and sports" at 79.3%.

Gong Young-min, Governor of Goheung-gun, said, "Following last year, the high satisfaction of residents with the administration seems to reflect their empathy with the efforts of the 8th local government of Goheung-gun for change and development, prioritizing citizen integration and happiness as the highest values." He added, "We plan to continue to do our best to achieve the 8th local government’s vision of ‘achieving a population of 100,000 in Goheung by 2030’ along with responsible administration that actively communicates with residents across all aspects of governance."

Meanwhile, this survey was commissioned to Korea Information Research Co., Ltd., a professional public opinion research agency, and was conducted through both telephone interviews and automated response methods targeting 1,014 men and women aged 18 and over residing in Goheung-gun. The sampling error is ±3.1 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
