Anseong-si to Recruit Participants for Youth Homestay Program Until Next Month 19th
Expanding to Include Out-of-School Youth at the January Event in Brea, USA
Next Year
Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 17th that it will recruit participants for the 'Youth Homestay' program scheduled to be held in January next year, from the 1st to the 19th of next month.
This program is a homestay conducted in Brea City, Orange County, California, USA, a sister city, to cultivate an international mindset through local cultural experiences for youth in the region.
Participating youths will attend regular classes at middle and high schools in Brea, be matched one-on-one with local students, and visit institutions related to culture, arts, science, and politics. Previously, since signing a sister city agreement with Brea in 2011, the city has conducted the youth homestay program 12 times up to last year.
This year, the city especially expanded the eligibility for participants and improved the qualification requirements. From this year, the support target has been expanded from middle school students within the city to include out-of-school youth. Also, the 'academic achievement' criterion was removed from the application qualifications, and the application period was extended. The city plans to strengthen pre-education to prevent safety accidents locally and hold a project performance report meeting after the program is completed.
Kim Bora, Mayor of Anseong City, said, "Based on the experience of promoting the homestay program 12 times, we will carry out this project more diversely and substantively," adding, "We will continue to do our best to nurture global talents among youth."
