Gyeonggi-do Joint Crackdown on Illegal Vehicles... Until the 26th of This Month
Gyeonggi Province will conduct a joint crackdown with related agencies on ‘illegal vehicles,’ such as those illegally modified or with damaged license plates, until the 26th of this month.
To this end, Gyeonggi Province will form a joint inspection team with city and county offices, the National Police Agency, the Korea Transportation Safety Authority, and other transportation-related agencies.
The main targets of the crackdown include illegal motorcycles violating safety standards or with modified mufflers, illegal modifications, license plate contamination or damage, and ghost cars.
According to the current ‘Automobile Management Act,’ illegal vehicles that do not comply with safety standards are subject to administrative measures such as inspection, maintenance, testing, restoration orders, and fines. In the case of illegal modifications, imprisonment for up to one year or a fine of up to 10 million won may be imposed.
Gyeonggi Province will take measures such as on-site guidance, administrative disposition, and criminal charges against vehicles subject to the crackdown in accordance with the law.
