Ulju-gun Taehwagang Ecological Center Releases 65,000 Young Hwang-eo Fish
On the 12th, the Taehwagang Ecological Center in Ulju County released 65,000 juvenile hwang-eo, a migratory fish species of the Taehwagang River, in the area around Guyeonggyo in Beomseo-eup.
The juvenile hwang-eo released this time were healthy individuals that had their eggs directly collected from hwang-eo that returned at the end of March, bred for two months in the incubation facility, and passed disease inspections.
Hwang-eo, a member of the carp family, grows to about 30 to 50 cm in length and is a migratory species that lives in coastal waters but returns to rivers every spring to spawn. It is designated as a protected wild species in Ulsan City.

A representative from the Taehwagang Ecological Center stated, "Due to various recent environmental changes, the population of hwang-eo has significantly decreased compared to the past, so we are promoting the production and release of juvenile hwang-eo to restore and preserve the species. We will continue our efforts to recreate the spectacular sight of hwang-eo schools turning the Taehwagang River golden."
