Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Hanul Unit 6 Under Turbine Lubrication System Maintenance... Turbine and Generator Halted
Preemptive Maintenance Before Reaching Turbine Lubricant Pressure Management Standards
Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (Director: Lee Seyong) announced that Unit 6 of Hanul Nuclear Power Plant (pressurized water reactor, 1 million kW class) will reduce its output starting at 9:00 p.m. on the 11th to carry out maintenance on the turbine lubrication oil system, and plans to manually shut down the turbine and generator around 8:00 a.m. on the 12th.
Currently, Hanul Unit 6 is operating with turbine lubrication oil pressure within the normal range, but in accordance with the nuclear power plant operation principle of 'safety first,' preemptive maintenance will be performed. During the approximately five-day maintenance period, the reactor output will be maintained at about 0.5%.
Hanul Nuclear Power Headquarters plans to analyze the cause of the decrease in turbine lubrication oil pressure in Hanul Unit 6, carry out maintenance on related equipment, and then resume power generation.
