Gwangju Seo-gu Council Inspects Ground Subsidence Site at Kumho-dong Apartment
The Seo-gu Council of Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 10th that it inspected the ground subsidence site near the Kumho-dong apartment complex adjacent to the Gwangju subway construction site together with officials from the Gwangju Urban Railway Construction Headquarters and relevant departments of Seo-gu Office.
In February, ground subsidence occurred in the parking lot of the Kumho-dong apartment complex near the subway construction site, prompting complaints from residents.
As a result of the on-site inspection by the Seo-gu Council, multiple cracks were confirmed on the ground around the apartment complex, and the recently reported subsidence in the parking lot was found to be severe, with cracks estimated to be more than 30 cm deep.
Additionally, continuous building cracks were confirmed in the apartment flower beds, as well as on the exterior walls and inside the corridors of the buildings.
Chairperson Ko Kyung-ae said, “We deeply empathize with the residents' anxiety and damage, and we will do our best to resolve the issue through a swift and thorough investigation,” adding, “We will closely cooperate with the Gwangju Urban Railway Construction Headquarters and relevant departments of Seo-gu Office to prepare measures that prioritize the safety of residents.”
