Gyeongnam Fire Department Sweeps Awards at National Firefighting Skills Competition
The Gyeongnam Fire Department announced on the 5th that it ranked 7th overall at the 37th National Firefighting Technology Competition, securing 1st and 2nd places in various categories.
According to the Gyeongnam Fire Department, the National Firefighting Technology Competition is a contest to select the nation’s top firefighters in 13 fields, including fire suppression, rescue, emergency medical services, fire investigation, life safety, and the Strongest Firefighter. This year, it was held for three days starting from the 3rd at the Central Fire Academy in Gongju, Chungnam.
From Gyeongnam, 155 participants competed and won 1st place in fire investigation, emergency medical skills, rapid team rescue, and volunteer fire brigade rescue technology, as well as 2nd place in life safety and 2nd place in the private fire brigade category.

View original imageAmong them, firefighter Kim Doyoung and firefighter Kim Jimin from Jinju Fire Station took 1st place in the fire investigation category, and firefighter Lee Chaeheon from Yangsan Fire Station took 1st place in emergency medical skills, earning special promotions.
Five members of the Special Response Team, including firefighter Kim Mincheol, also secured special promotions by winning 1st place in the rapid team rescue category.
In the volunteer fire brigade rescue technology category, Jin Pilhyeon, a member of the male volunteer fire brigade at Sacheon Fire Station, won 1st place nationwide. In the private fire brigade competition, where the National Fire Agency conducted its first safety practical evaluation for the private sector, the Fire and Rescue Company Team from the Air Force Education Command Base Support Battalion achieved 2nd place nationwide.
Kim Jaebyeong, head of the Fire Department, said, "I would like to thank the athletes for their hard work in demonstrating the strength of Gyeongnam Fire Department with such excellent results," and added, "Based on the achievements gained while preparing for this competition, we will strive to provide high-quality fire services to the residents of the province."
