Gwangyang Economic Zone Authority Steps Up to Help Plum Farms During Busy Farming Season
The Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority (Commissioner Song Sang-rak, hereinafter referred to as Gwangyang Economic Authority) visited farms in the Gwangyang and Hadong areas, where farmers are struggling with plum harvesting due to rising labor costs and labor shortages, as the full-scale farming season begins in June, to help with the labor shortage.
At the labor assistance site, about 60 employees of the Gwangyang Economic Authority helped with plum harvesting and sorting at four farms located in Daap-myeon, Gwangyang City, and one farm located in Agyang-myeon, Hadong County, sharing a time of communication to enjoy the joy of the fruits that fully reflect the farmers' hard work.
The farmers who received help expressed their gratitude, saying, "We were very worried about the lack of labor during the busy farming season, but despite the hot weather, the employees helped as if it were their own work, which was a great help."
