Mokpo Coast Guard Conducts Safety Inspection in Water Leisure Sector
National Safety Transformation Initiative: Peak Season Water Leisure Safety Management
Mokpo Maritime Police Station (Chief Kwon Oh-seong) is focusing on strengthening safety at water surface leisure business sites in anticipation of the peak season.
According to Mokpo Maritime Police on the 3rd, safety inspections were intensified on water surface leisure facilities within the jurisdiction on the 31st of last month.
The safety inspection team, jointly formed with Jeollanam-do Provincial Office, Mokpo City Hall, and the Korea Maritime Safety Authority (KOMSA), conducted proactive joint inspections targeting high-risk businesses based on criteria for selecting hazardous facilities.
Mokpo Coast Guard is advising water leisure workers to take precautions.

In particular, this inspection focused on the National Mokpo Maritime University Yacht License Testing Center, checking the facilities of the water leisure business, safety of leisure equipment, safety measures by operators and workers, and the deployment of lifeguards.
Mokpo Maritime Police plans to organize the achievements and issues obtained from this inspection into a database to enhance safety through systematic analysis and management, and will introduce a real-name inspection system to increase accountability and ensure that the public can safely enjoy water leisure activities.
