Shinsegae International was recognized for its contributions to fostering a discrimination-free, equal employment environment and operating various systems to protect maternity and support work-family balance, thereby promoting a culture of gender employment equality.
From the perspective of equal opportunity for both genders, Shinsegae International strives to maintain an annual female regular employee employment rate of over 80%. As of last year, the company recorded a female regular employee employment rate of 81% and a female promotion rate of 74%. Notably, the proportion of female managers at the team leader level and above increased by 4 percentage points from the previous year to 55%.
Additionally, the company is strengthening maternity protection systems to establish an employment environment where men and women can work equally. Parental leave can be extended for an additional year beyond the statutory one-year leave, allowing up to two years of leave. To provide greater benefits to employees giving birth to multiples, the congratulatory allowance, previously paid as a lump sum on the day of birth, has been increased and adjusted to be proportional to the number of births.
Flexible working hours and leave systems are also in place to support work-family balance. Employees with children entering elementary school or under the age of 9 (third grade of elementary school) can choose their commuting hours according to their circumstances. Furthermore, the company actively encourages men to take parental leave, operates additional family care leave and child school entrance care leave systems beyond parental leave, and runs an on-site daycare center to support work-family balance.
Moreover, various welfare programs are provided. The company operates a self-development leave system that can be used for up to one year to enhance job competencies, supports in-house club activities and fitness center use, and offers free psychological counseling services six times a year.
