President Yoon Suk-yeol appointed Jeong Ho-seong, a former close aide to ex-President Park Geun-hye who was arrested during the past 'state affairs manipulation' investigation, as a secretary in the Presidential Office.
Jeong, along with former secretaries Lee Jae-man and Ahn Bong-geun, was known as one of the 'Three Door Handles,' the closest aides to ex-President Park Geun-hye. Jeong was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison by the Supreme Court in 2018 and served his sentence before being released at the end of his term.
Additionally, the Presidential Office's Civil Society Secretariat, currently composed of the Secretary for Social Integration, Secretary for Citizen Communication, and Secretary for Public Sympathy, will rename these positions as Secretary 1, 2, and 3 respectively.
A Presidential Office official stated, "Jeong was appointed as Secretary 3 of the Civil Society Secretariat" and added, "He is scheduled to start work on the 24th."
