Construction of Naepo New City Public Terminal on Hold... "Population Must Increase to 100,000"
Fewer Than 300 Daily Passengers Use Express and Intercity Bus Stops
The plan to construct a public terminal in Naepo New Town, Chungnam, has been tentatively put on hold.
According to the province on the 23rd, a feasibility study for the construction of the public terminal in Naepo New Town has been underway since last year.
The feasibility study concluded that "the terminal will be constructed only if the number of users is guaranteed and the population increases to 100,000."
Considering the current population of about 37,000, the plan to build the terminal has become temporarily difficult.
Economic feasibility requires more than 1,000 daily users of the terminal, but currently, the number of users at the express and intercity bus stops in Naepo New Town is less than 300 per day.
The province plans to first relocate the bus stop as the provincial government road in front of the stop is being developed into a "car-free street," and then monitor population trends.
