Hyundai Motor and Kia April Europe Sales 91,000 Units... 1.8% Increase YoY
Market Share Slightly Declines to 8.5%
Hyundai Motor Company and Kia sold more than 90,000 units in Europe last month, but their market share slightly declined.
According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA) on the 22nd, Hyundai and Kia sold a total of 91,361 units in Europe last month, an increase of 1.8% compared to the same period last year.
Hyundai's sales growth was notable, with 46,618 units sold, marking a 17.6% increase compared to the same period last year. In contrast, Kia's sales decreased by 10.6% during the same period, totaling 44,743 units.
Despite this, their growth lagged behind the overall European market growth of 12.0%, resulting in a decline in combined market share. It fell by 0.8 percentage points to 8.5% compared to the same month last year. Hyundai's market share rose by 0.2 percentage points to 4.3%, while Kia's market share dropped by 1.0 percentage point to 4.1%.
By model sales, Hyundai's Tucson was the best-selling with 9,669 units, followed by the Kona with 7,436 units, and the i20 with 6,058 units. For Kia, the best-selling model was the Sportage with 12,025 units, followed by the Ceed with 9,644 units, and the Niro with 6,390 units.

Regarding sales of eco-friendly vehicles such as hybrid electric vehicles (HEV), plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV), and electric vehicles (EV), Hyundai's top sellers were the Kona (5,841 units), Tucson (5,516 units), Ioniq 5 (1,602 units), and Ioniq 6 (591 units). Kia's Niro dominated with 6,390 units sold, followed by the EV6 with 2,369 units and the EV9 with 765 units.
