Institutions and Foreigners 'Sell Off'... KOSPI Falls to the 2720 Level
The KOSPI index started slightly lower due to selling pressure from institutions and foreigners, trading around the 2720 level.
As of 11:57 AM on the 21st, the KOSPI was trading at 2727.56, down 14.58 points (0.53%) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 2733.03, down 9.11 points (0.33%), but has failed to rebound since. Currently, individuals are net buyers with purchases worth 304.5 billion KRW, while institutions and foreigners have sold 125.8 billion KRW and 165 billion KRW respectively.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, SK Hynix (1.32%), Hyundai Motor (0.80%), Samsung Life Insurance (0.33%), and Shinhan Financial Group (0.20%) are rising. However, most stocks such as Samsung SDI (-2.48%), POSCO Future M (-2.21%), LG Chem (-2.30%), LG Energy Solution (-1.88%), and POSCO Holdings (-2.00%) are declining.
By sector, most industries are down, including Transportation & Warehousing (-1.65%), Steel & Metals (-1.10%), Chemicals (-0.97%), Construction (-0.94%), and Pharmaceuticals (-0.86%). The Medical Precision sector is the only one showing gains, up 1.06%.
On the 20th (local time) at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 39,806.77, down 0.49% from the previous session. The large-cap focused S&P 500 rose 0.09% to 5,308.13, and the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite increased 0.65% to 16,794.87, reaching an all-time high supported by strong performances from major semiconductor companies such as Nvidia and Micron.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ index recorded 845.06, down 2.02 points (0.24%) from the previous session. The index opened at 849.32, up 2.24 points (0.26%), but soon turned downward. Institutions and individuals bought 25.3 billion KRW and 33 billion KRW respectively, while foreigners sold 53.2 billion KRW.

Among the top market capitalization stocks, Enchem (6.99%), HLB (3.62%), Soulbrain (2.88%), Dongjin Semichem (2.43%), HPSP (1.56%), and Classys (1.44%) are rising. Conversely, Ecopro BM (-3.99%), Ecopro (-2.91%), Rainbow Robotics (-1.43%), and EO Technics (-1.26%) are declining.
