View original imageThe Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that Chungnam Mechanical Technical High School has been selected as a 2024 Agreement-type Specialized High School by the Ministry of Education.
An Agreement-type Specialized High School is a specialized high school where local governments, education offices, regional companies, and specialized high schools form a consortium to provide customized education tailored to the needs of the region, aiming to nurture talent in special industrial fields required by the region and the nation.
The Ministry of Education selected 10 Agreement-type Specialized High Schools through document and face-to-face evaluations from a total of 37 consortia across 15 regions that participated in the competition.
The Chungnam Mechanical Technical High School consortium has established a consortium including the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education, Daejeon City, Daejeon Defense Industry Association, i3system Co., Ltd., Daejeon Technopark, and Hanbat National University, focusing on the defense (defense industry) sector, one of Daejeon's four core strategic industries. It aims to nurture local talent in the K-defense industry (machinery, drones, robots, etc.) and will operate in connection with the Daejeon Education Development Special Zone.
With a total financial support of 7.5 billion KRW, including up to 4.5 billion KRW from the government over five years and 3 billion KRW from the Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education and Daejeon City Hall, the school plans to operate departments and curricula suited to the defense industry, a core future strategic industry of Daejeon.
