"Innovative Model for Solving Social Issues"... Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation Hosts Startup Camp
On the 17th, the Hyundai Motor Chung Mong-Koo Foundation announced that it held the 'Impact Startup Camp,' where various ideas are presented to solve social issues through innovative business models.
The event, held on the 16th at Rolling Hills Hotel in Gyeonggi Province, was attended by representatives of 20 teams from the 12th batch of startups selected through the foundation's 'H-OnDream Startup Ground' program, along with experts in impact startup development and investment.
Impact startups are startups that use innovative business models, technologies, and strategies to address social challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, disparities in education, healthcare, and culture, as well as low birth rates and aging populations. At this camp, participants shared opinions on the essence of entrepreneurship and the activation of the impact startup ecosystem.

The 20 teams selected by the foundation this year went through a three-stage screening process: first document screening, second business evaluation, and third entrepreneurship evaluation. Among the selected representative companies, JamJam Therapeutics develops augmented reality (AR) games for special education and rehabilitation for children with disabilities. RootFinders developed a smartphone service that accurately reads invisible screens for the visually impaired. ParaStar Entertainment is the world's first entertainment company nurturing an idol group of hearing-impaired individuals, and PhytoResearch produces K-seedlings capable of responding to climate change using next-generation tissue culture technology.
'H-OnDream Startup Ground' is the foundation's flagship project that has been discovering, nurturing, and investing in impact startups since 2012, continuing the entrepreneurial spirit of Honorary Chairman Chung Mong-Koo. It operates two tracks: incubating early-stage startups established within three years and accelerating growth-stage impact startups that possess business solutions capable of practically solving social problems.
This year, the foundation selected 10 teams for the incubating track and 10 teams for the accelerating track, supporting a total of 20 teams. In addition to financial support of up to 150 million KRW, various opportunities are provided, including participation in the global investment conference (SOCAP), management consulting, investment linkage opportunities, and residency in collaborative spaces (OnDream Society Myeongdong).
