Gyeonggi Office of Education Selects 9 'Registered Alternative Education Institutions'
The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education has selected nine registered alternative education institutions in the first round this year to ensure the safe right to learn for 'out-of-school youth.'
On the 17th, the Office of Education announced that it selected a total of nine institutions?eight in the southern region and one in the northern region?through document submission and review, on-site investigations, working council meetings, and the registration operation committee for this selection of registered alternative education institutions.
Registered alternative education institutions are allowed to use the name 'school,' and compulsory education students enrolled in alternative education institutions can be granted a 'postponement of compulsory schooling.'
They can also receive budget support for program operation costs and book purchases, and must comply with legal obligations such as ▲ notifying the original school of personal information ▲ adhering to tuition refund standards ▲ disclosing budget and settlement details on the website ▲ forming and operating an alternative education institution operation committee.
The Office of Education plans to strengthen alternative education institutions by supporting educational activities at alternative education institutions, supporting educational activities for out-of-school youth, providing capacity-building training for staff of registered alternative education institutions, offering customized educational activities linked with the AI-based teaching and learning platform ‘Hi-Learning,’ and activating regional networks.
Um Shin-ok, Director of the Education Welfare Division at the Office of Education, stated, "We will strive to ensure that out-of-school youth can realize their dreams while being guaranteed a safe right to learn at registered alternative education institutions."
