Gokseong-gun and Korea East-West Power Launch Social Contribution Activities

Gathering the Meaning of Mutual Growth and New Beginnings, Two Organizations Participate in Trash Picking Activity

Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on May 16 that it conducted a social contribution activity near the Seomjingang Train Village in collaboration with Korea East-West Power.

Following the selection of Gokseong-gun as the operator of the pumped-storage power plant announced by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on December 28 last year, the county and Korea East-West Power signed a win-win business agreement to ensure smooth and successful project progress.

Additionally, on March 20, the Gokseong Pumped-Storage Power Plant Construction Promotion Office was opened, creating a channel for communication with residents. They have been continuing resident-centered communication activities such as gathering residents’ opinions, strengthening communication, and promoting the pumped-storage power plant.

Through the ‘Gokseong WE THE ROSE, East-West WE ARE TOGETHER Campaign,’ the two organizations united their wishes for the mutual development of the pumped-storage power plant project area. Ahead of the Gokseong World Rose Festival, both organizations plan to promote Korea East-West Power by creating a clean festival site through joint trash picking activities and promoting Gokseong’s representative festival.

A Gokseong-gun official said, “Ahead of the Gokseong World Rose Festival, we will do our best to ensure the smooth progress of the pumped-storage power plant project by forming a social consensus through social contribution activities with Korea East-West Power.”

Meanwhile, the Gokseong Pumped-Storage Power Plant will be built in the Gochi-ri area of Jukgok-myeon, with a total project cost of 1.4 trillion won and a project capacity of 500 MW. The planned site has no ecological grade 1 areas or separately managed zones, maintains the shortest distance between upper and lower sites for easy equipment maintenance, and offers excellent environmental and economic advantages by enabling stable power supply.
