View original imageOn the 16th, Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) announced that the Banghwa 3-dong Hope Dream Group (Leader Shim Young-soo) and professional organizations held a '100-Year-Old Senior Celebration and Filial Piety Festival' on the 14th. This event was held to pray for the health and longevity of the elderly in celebration of Family Month in May, gathering seniors who turned 100 this year along with about 100 other elderly participants.
The 100-year-old senior residing in Banghwa-dong was served a full table setting including a congratulatory cake, Korean traditional sweets (hangwa), fruits, rice cakes, and a flower basket. Leaders of the professional organizations presented congratulatory gifts wishing for health and longevity. About 100 seniors were served samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) and given small commemorative gifts.
Three seniors over 100 years old who could not attend the event due to personal circumstances were visited at home by members of the Hope Dream Group and professional organizations, who delivered indoor cotton clothing and longevity rice cakes as gifts.

Mr. Kim, a senior who turned 100 this year and attended the event, expressed his gratitude, saying, "I am thankful and encouraged that the neighborhood residents celebrate my 100-year life with me." Kim Young-jun, head of Banghwa 3-dong, said, "It is because of the dedication of our elders that the current generation can live in a good environment. I would like to thank the professional organizations for organizing this event, and I will do my best to create an environment where seniors can live healthy lives together with these organizations in the future."
