Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province will significantly expand electric vehicle charging facilities at 29 public facilities within the city. On the 16th, Yongin City announced that it was recently selected for the Ministry of Environment's '2024 Regional Zero-Emission Vehicle Transition Brand Project' competition.
This project supports local governments and charging operators to collaborate and build charging infrastructure tailored to regional characteristics to promote the distribution of electric vehicles and chargers. The city jointly applied for this competition with three private charging operators: EVsis, SK E-Link, and Korea Electric Vehicle Charging Service.

In this project, the city will designate locations for installing electric vehicle chargers and provide administrative support such as opening entrances and preparing parking spaces, while private charging operators will install the chargers and bear the costs of site usage fees and operation expenses.
The locations where charging facilities will be installed include Giheung-gu Public Health Center, Yongin Pyeongon Forest, Giheung Station Transfer Parking Lot, Suji and Giheung Respia, Giheung Bus Public Garage, Yongin Mir Stadium, Yongin Indoor Gymnasium, and on-street parking lots around Cheoin-gu Office.
Last year, the city was also selected for this project competition and invested 4.2 billion KRW in 36 public parking lots, installing 71 charging stations.
