This Weekend's 'Buddha's Birthday Lantern Parade'... Traffic Control in Downtown Seoul
The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 10th that it will implement traffic control on major roads in downtown Seoul on Saturday, the 11th, due to the '2024 Buddha's Birthday Lantern Parade' event.
Accordingly, the Jongno section (Heunginjimun to Jonggak) will be closed from 1 a.m. on the 11th until 3 a.m. the next day for lantern parade preparations and facility restoration work. Jangchungdan-ro (Dongdaemun Entrance to Heunginjimun), where the parade begins, will be closed from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The section from Sejong-daero Intersection to Jonggak to Anguk-dong Intersection will also be closed from 6 p.m. to midnight.
The police plan to allow flexible east-west vehicle flow during the parade in the Jangchung to Heunginjimun section, and vehicles using Jongno will be detoured via Cheonggyecheon-ro and Yulgok-ro.
Additionally, on Sunday the 12th, due to the Traditional Culture Square and Lantern Play, the section of Ujeongguk-ro (Anguk Intersection to Jonggak Intersection) will be closed from 9 a.m. to midnight.
