"Please Refrain from Reckless Personal Information Disclosure and Speculation"…Family of Medical Student Murder Victim Appeals
Medical student at prestigious Seoul university kills girlfriend
Victim's personal information indiscriminately spread... Older sister requests "Please refrain from speculation"
Information about a man in his 20s, identified as A, who is reportedly attending a prestigious medical school in Seoul and who murdered his girlfriend after failing to accept their breakup, is rapidly spreading online, including both A’s personal details and the victim’s social media accounts. In response, the victim’s family has appealed for people to refrain from speculation.
On the 8th, a comment was posted on a social media account believed to belong to the victim by B, who identified herself as the victim’s older sister. B mentioned the victim’s real name and began by saying, “My younger sister was unjustly murdered by A.”
B explained, “One day, my sister told A that she wanted to break up, and suddenly said ‘I want to die,’ attempting to jump multiple times from the rooftop. My sister, with a kind heart, tried to stop him from dying but got caught up in A’s premeditated crime and was stabbed multiple times and killed.” She continued, “Our family is living in pain every day. We tried to make the account private or delete it to prevent the spread of my sister’s personal information so she could rest in peace, but errors kept occurring, and we couldn’t delete it.” She also added, “Please refrain from making baseless assumptions about my sister.”

Earlier, A is suspected of fatally stabbing his girlfriend multiple times on the rooftop of a building near Gangnam Station in Seocho-dong, Seocho-gu, Seoul, around 5 p.m. on the 6th. Initially, the police responded to a report that “a man was attempting to jump from the rooftop,” and rescued A. However, during a reinspection prompted by A’s claim that he had left a bag containing drugs behind, the police discovered the deceased victim and immediately arrested A. A has admitted to committing the crime after being told to break up. During the investigation, it was revealed that A had scored a perfect score on the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) and is currently enrolled in a prestigious medical school in Seoul. It was also found that A purchased the weapon earlier that day around 3 p.m. at a large supermarket in Dongtan-dong, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, before committing the crime.
